Columbus, here we come!
Well, not quite where we were hoping to end up for the next year, but we decided to stay in Columbus for the next 12 months. See, our apartment lease is up in mid-August, and we're going to need a place to live. We can't stay month-to-month in our apartment (or sign anything longer), and all of the places that offer short-term leases are ..... gross.
So we started looking this week, and visited around 10 apartment places. Today, we got super lucky- we were planning on visiting 12 apartment complexes, and stopped at number 3. The funny thing is, we accidentally drove past the complex, and were going to turn around, but the next driveway was the next place we wanted to live, so we stopped there first. While we were at the complex we didn't sign at, someone dropped off their keys and broke their lease at the place we did sign at- freeing up an apartment. We arrived just after he left, and we were able to look at the apartment- the only one that would be available.
The woman there told us that they if we didn't look anywhere else and decided on the spot, that she could make us a special deal- she waved the monthly pet fee (saving us $360), and we're starting our new lease July 15th, but won't have to pay until August 1st (saving us nearly $600). We filled out an application immediately.
Why are we so excited?
1) Quiet, safe area in a VERY nice part of Columbus.
2) Gated community. Gates are closed between 9pm and 9am.
3) Close to Jessica's work.
4) Close access to a shopping mall and freeway.
5) The community has a nice fitness center, sauna, heated pool, DVD library (to check out for free)
6) Our unit is on the 2nd floor, and has an attached garage.
7) We have 1400 square feet of living space (not including the garage)!!!!
8) We have a fireplace.
9) We have a nice open kitchen with updated appliances.
10) The unit comes with a washer and dryer.
11) 2 Bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, big living room, dining room, and a patio.
12) It is an end unit, meaning only 1 shared wall!!
13) They have a 17 foot moving truck that is free for us to use!!!!
14) We have the option of moving to ATT Uverse for our cable/internet - and after investigating, it looks like it will be the way to go - more HD channels (especially the ones we use), and we can get faster internet (12Mbps compared to our current 7Mbps).
Is that enough?? We're so excited!!!! And we're only paying about $300 more than we are now!!
