Homeownership is tough!!!
We had our house for 10 days before we moved in- during that time, everyday after work, we were going to the house, stripping wallpaper, and painting 3 rooms (plus trim/crown molding). There were some very late nights (leaving around midnight), but we got it done in time. Moving day was a blur- we loaded and unloaded a full 17' uhaul in 2 hours flat. Over the last 2 weeks, we've been working on getting our rooms the way we want them. And we're realizing that we need more money. We don't have enough furniture or decorations to make it feel quite right. Sadly, some of that might have to wait for quite some time.
In addition to all the work around the house, plus doing taxes, plus changing addresses on everything, we had 2 decent sized snow storms here. We got about 10 inches of HEAVY packing snow last weekend, and then another 4-6 a few days later. And with our corner lot, our sidewalk is LOOOOOOONG. It wouldn't be so bad if it were smooth, but every two feet or so I wind up hitting the crack and jamming the shovel. Grrr.
And then there is all of the heavy lifting! We bought a treadmill and decided to make a room upstairs our workout room (it hasn't been used yet). The treadmill weighs 193 pounds and Jessica and I got it upstairs ourselves. Today, we bought a chest of drawers, and again- had to unload it from the car and take it upstairs ourselves. Whew!
And then there are the repairs/installation: installing blinds, taking apart shelving, installing new shelving, putting together office furniture, setting up our home theatre system, putting together bed frames, etc.
As a side note- we may need to buy a new dryer. The one that came with the house is probably as old as me, and we've had some issues with it working today. At one point we thought we might have to buy one today, but we have it running again.
